MED Confederation is a newly created alliance which aims to promote socioeconomic cooperation in the Mediterranean region.

A number of organisations from France, Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia and Belgium have come together in this initiative that seeks to encourage socioeconomic cooperation in the Mediterranean. Under the name MED Confederation, this alliance had been presented in an official event in Barcelona.

Its founding members are “la Caixa” Foundation (Spain), WSBI (World Saving and Retail Banking Institute, Brussels), IEMed (European Institute of the Mediterranean, Spain), IPEMED (Institute Economic Forecasting World Mediterranean, France), Caisse des Depots et Consignations (Tunisia), Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (Morocco), TEPAV (Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey) and Al Barid Bank (Morocco).

A window of opportunity is open for collaboration, using dialogue and synergy, between all civil society actors, organisations, networks, and companies, and to do so under a single umbrella. Such a collaborative framework has to be inclusive, flexible, results- and project-oriented, multisector, multidisciplinary and, obviously, sustainable.

The MED Confederation is a collaborative framework that is inclusive, flexible, results- and project-oriented, multi-sector, multidisciplinary and sustainable. Companies, corporations, civil society leaders, networks, associations and foundations are invited to apply to join the initiative. Many such entities are well established in their respective areas of activity, but they do not have many connections among themselves, and a pan-Mediterranean umbrella organisation has never previously existed to facilitate contacts, collaboration, synergies and joint projects.
